Prime Minister Marcel Çolaku said a decision had not yet been made on the capital’s mayoral candidate or whether the PNL and PSD would run together or separately, but stressed that the two parties would form a majority in all local administrations. Ciolacu confirmed that there had been discussions with the architect Tiberiu Florescu and the doctor Catalin Karsta, they were being examined as possible joint candidates for the capital city hall, and he also said that a decision would be made on Monday or Tuesday.

“If we have separate approaches, PSD has Ms. Firea as its candidate. If we have a joint approach, we will have another candidate compatible with the two voters. What I can tell you with certainty is that neither the PSD nor the PNL will support Mr. Piedone’s candidacy. We will have our own candidates or our common candidate. At this point, we all have measurements and alternatives to make a decision. Perhaps we have separate candidates in Bucharest as well. It’s not something wow. What has been established very clearly, after the elections, the majority in all local administrations will be PSD and PNL. In other words, we have passed the first leap,” Marcel Čolaku explained on Sunday at Digi 24, according to News.ro.

He also said that he did not want the PSD and the PNL to make a hasty decision regarding the candidacy for the capital city hall.

“This is the last construction train in Romania. For too long, coalitions have been formed against someone, against PSD, against PNL. Bucharest also needs an administrative project. There are several candidates. Even if we have a separate approach, PSD has a candidate in Ms. Gabriela Firea. If we have a joint approach, we will have another candidate compatible with the two voters,” Çolaku added.

The only thing I ask is that neither PNL nor PSD support the candidacy of the mayor of sector 5, Cristian Popescu Piedone.

“As far as I can be sure, neither the Social Democratic Party nor the National Liberal Party will support Mr. Piedone’s candidacy. In other words, we will have our candidates or our joint candidate,” explained Marcel Cholaku on Digi24 on Sunday.

Answering the question whether Monday will be the decisive meeting of the coalition to nominate a candidate for the mayor’s office of the capital, Cholaku replied that it has not been decided yet.

“Mr. Nikolay Chuke is on the plane now. I think after your show I will decide with him exactly when we will have a coalition tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. But we all currently have measurements and alternatives to make a decision. And we will definitely make a decision,” the NSDP leader also said.

The leader of the Social Democrats added that “there were discussions about Professor Florescu, myself and Mr. Chuke. He has the right to show his vision of Bucharest.”

About doctor Katalin Karštoj, the PSD leader said that he is a very good manager and a person who should be considered as a joint candidate of the two parties.

“Mr. Cătălin Cârstoiu? He is a very good manager, he is a person who is considered as a regular candidate at the moment. I haven’t made a decision. In a day or two, this decision will be made,” Cholaku explained.
