The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia reported on Friday that a Russian citizen was detained in Moscow on suspicion of treason. He would admit to assembling and launching drones for the benefit of Ukraine, Reuters reports.
In a statement, the FSB said that the man, whose name has not been released, “assembled and launched unmanned aerial vehicles to create false targets in the immediate vicinity of some facilities of the Ministry of Defense of Russia,” Agerpres notes.
Russian news agency Interfax cited a video released by the FSB that said the man was operating on the side of the Freedom of Russia Legion, a group of Russian rebels fighting for Kyiv.
In recent months, Kyiv has carried out several attacks on economic targets inside Russia, hitting a number of oil refineries and metallurgical plants.
