MamaPan, a small bakery in Bucharest that makes bread with mayonnaise, is more than just a business. It was here that several vulnerable women found a safe place to work. Now the history of the bakery has become the subject of a documentary film. In 70 minutes of “Our Daily Bread”, director Sherban Georgescu depicted the story of women who refused the status of “social assistance” and fight for survival, despite the fact that everything around them is against them.

The statistics show only a small part of the harsh reality these women face. According to Eurostat data, in Romania 7% of households are single-parent families. As in most European countries, the child or children are brought up by the mother, even in the absence of a partner.
