
The capital’s mayor-general, Nikushor Dan, says that some developers, unhappy that they can no longer build as they did under previous administrations, have sued him personally and are demanding the maximum compensation of 75 million lei.
He said on Wednesday on the air of the B1TV channel that at the moment the capital city hall is involved in 300-400 court processes in the field of urban planning, and half of these processes are from the previous administration.
“There are two types of processes. There are processes that originate from the previous administration, or on the PUZ, or on authorization; 150-200 of them. What is unexpected is that we analyze before presenting. It’s amazing that 50% of the naysayers are right. And the courts give them justice. That is, there were countless permits with additional floors that did not respect the distance from the neighbor. And there are others, as usual, there are people, especially companies, who demand something from us. We say, “What you’re asking is not legal,” and they sue us to force us. Sometimes I sue myself, personally. The most they asked me personally was 75 million lei. There are also about 150-200 of them; these are disputes about urban planning,” explained the general mayor, reports Agerpres.
Nikusor Dan explained that the traffic jams were caused by the fact that the provisions of the General Urban Plan from 2000 were not followed and it was built up “too densely”, without green spaces or kindergartens and schools in the new neighborhoods.
“We see what the city looks like, we see large clusters of blocks where we don’t see a school or a kindergarten, and we see that traffic is blocked. For example, in the area near Popeshti, every morning is miserable because it is built up too densely. And there are many other places in the city where this phenomenon took place. We have an urban development plan, the General Plan of 2000, and they (developers – no) came to the General Council and said: “I want to build more than what the PUG tells me.” Or they take away a former industrial base – it makes sense to build, let there be no industry in the city center – but there is a legal norm that says that if you take an industrial base and turn it into housing, you must give 20 square meters of green space to each resident plantations They did not give. And now, when we have finally come to apply the law, they are worried about the fact that they made some business plans, as it was before, and it still doesn’t work now,” said the genmer.
