PSD spokesman Lucian Romaşcanu told Digi 24 that there is a possibility that the PSD and PNL will have separate candidates for the Bucharest mayor’s office, with Gabriela Firea as the first candidate for the Social Democrats.
Live on Digi 24, Nikusor Dan says the move is beneficial for him as polls show Firea and Piedone would split their votes and he would emerge as the clear winner.
Genmer says he did not release all the information from the survey commissioned by his team to the press, but only what was useful to him.
“I did not share all the details with the press. I do not take Mr. Cristian Popescu Piedone’s candidacy very seriously. The poll shows him tied with Fiera and I will emerge victorious. I didn’t even ask for a poll with only Gabriela Firea and Piedone running, not because I don’t think that’s a viable scenario,” Dan said.
Burduja says he hopes to become the NLP’s mayoral candidate, claiming he is the only candidate with a right-wing profile.
Cristian Popescu Piedone says he is determined to reach the General Mayor’s Office and he is not opposed to Gabriela Firea entering the race.
“I go to the end, I run. Gabriela Firea is not my main rival. I have no rival. I am a representative of the people who have received only projects and promises for 30 years, as in the case of Nikusor Dan,” said the mayor from Sector 5.
“I would support Mr. Burduzh in 4 years. I would leave the general mayor’s office to him, but in the meantime he has to learn how to manage. His studies are excellent, but he is not helped here. He should have spent a term in the City Hall of Sector 1 to gain experience,” Piedone said.
57% of the liberal electorate would vote for Nikusor Dan
Analysis by coalition leaders shows that 57% of the liberal electorate would vote for Nikusor Dan if Firea is the joint candidate, and 40% of the PNL electorate would also vote for him if Sebastián Burduha ran.
According to the Coalition’s calculations, under the conditions of individual candidacies, the capital city hall will win less than 30% if the current situation is maintained. “It is far from 30%, and it can take 95% of the electorate of the United Right and 40% of the PNL electorate,” sources in the Coalition say.
At the same time,The PNL cannot accept Piedone as a joint candidate, as organizations from Transylvania and Banat will protest. “The electorate from Transylvania is incompatible with Piedone. You cannot walk,” the PNL leader claims.
According to sources from the Coalition, it was very difficult to transfer the voters’ vote from PSD to PNL and vice versa. The voters of Firea do not want to vote for Burduja, 60% prefer Piedone.”
“The PSD-PNL joint list has 51%, people are voting for the joint list, hatred for George Simion has increased to 74% in Bucharest. We have a big problem with a joint candidate for the Capital. Burduja, the only candidate, grows to 20-22% at most. Firea is decreasing, it has about 30% common candidate. If Firea is the candidate, Nikusor’s chances increase because there was a high level of hatred,” Coalition sources also say.
