The 1990 events in Tirgu Mures were instigated by former security forces who needed an excuse to get out of the mess they were in after the revolution, UDMR president MP Kelemen Hunor said Monday night.
“This (international conflict – no) was provoked by former security forces. They needed an excuse to get out of the mess they were in after the revolution. I cannot nominate, because I do not have the file with me, but there is a file in which it is known who was the one who arranged all the provocations there in the days before March 15 and before everything happened there, from sins, and with people, who died But I have no doubt that the former guards were the ones who handled everything that happened in Tirgu Mures,” said Kelemen Hunor on Realitatea TV, according to Agerpres.
When asked if extremism is a real danger for Romania, Kelemen Hunor replied: “Yes. There is a real danger everywhere, and from this point of view, Romania is no different from other countries.”
“If you look at all the countries of Europe, you will see that over the years – certainly faced with several overlapping crises, from COVID to energy, inflation, wars – people have lost faith in the political ‘mainstream.’ Those who ruled, who ruled for 10, 20, 30 years are to blame. (…) We have reached a situation where hope is lost, there is no leadership, there is no vision. And then the anti-establishment parties use popular anger, popular discontent and, of course, promise more than can be achieved. First of all, it is necessary to be honest with citizens. If you made a mistake, you should say you can and you shouldn’t hide behind one or the other because you were driving, you made a mistake. Those who led did not make a mistake, the citizen who trusted you several times did not make a mistake,” explained the leader of the UDMR.
On the other hand, Kelemen Hunor believes that “civil partnerships in Romania should be regulated at some point.” “And I’m quite reserved about gender ideology because I don’t think it’s an ideology,” he added.
