The unity between Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz seems to be falling apart. Prime Minister Netanyahu did not hide his anger at the news that his political rival and member of the military cabinet had traveled to Washington without his consent, and instructed the Israeli embassy in the US not to accompany the minister on his political visit or receive him under during his stay in Washington, the Israeli television station i24News.co.il reported on Sunday.

According to the information provided by the Kan channel, Benjamin Netanyahu would rebuke Benny Gantz for the initiative to go to Washington, stressing that Israel has “only one prime minister.”

Former Defense Secretary Benny Gantz – leader of the centrist National Union party – had scheduled meetings in Washington with Vice President Kamala Harris and Jake Sullivan, the US president’s national security adviser. He will also meet with members of Congress from both the Republican and Democratic parties, as well as senior members of the American Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a lobbying group that advocates pro-Israel policies before the US legislature and executive branch.

Benny Gantz’s entourage claims that he personally informed the prime minister of his intention to travel to the American capital to coordinate the messages he intends to send to the Biden administration.
