Jakub Mensik beat Borna Coric at ATP Dubai

Finalist in DohaMensik moved into the ATP TOP 100 and scored another thrilling victory on Tuesday after almost three hours of play, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(7).

Jakub lost a match point at 5-4 in the deciding set and led 4-0 in the tiebreak, but Coric (31st ATP / 2020 US Open quarterfinalist and 2022 Cincinnati Masters champion) staged an impressive comeback.

Cech saved a match point at 5-6 and ended the match at the third opportunity, 8-7.

A finalist at the 2022 Australian Open junior tournament, Mensik had 18 aces in Tuesday’s match (5 to Coric), while Borna had 6 double faults.

Thanks to this victory, Jakub rose to the 79th place in the ATP Live ranking (a jump of eight positions).

In the next round, Mensik will play against Spaniard Alejandro Davydovich Fokin (24 ATP, favorite 8). They also met in Doha, and the young Czech won 7-6(3), 6-4.
