Former Prime Minister Dacian Kolos, member of the European Parliament REPER, said on Tuesday that he is ready to run in the European Parliament elections in June 2024, although his goal remains to run for the presidency.

“There is a procedure in the party, according to which this issue will be resolved, I simply said that yes, I am ready to run for the European Parliament under the given conditions, my goal remains to be a candidate for the presidency, but under the conditions in which we see many unification of elections for for political purposes, now I am also combining campaigns – the campaign for the European Parliament and the presidential campaign. Because, from my point of view, unlike cartel parties, the subjects of the European Parliament largely coincide with the subjects that should also be in the presidential campaign,” Cholos said at a conference in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

Previously, sources cited by News.ro indicated that Dacian Ciolos could open the REPER list for the European Parliament elections in June, which would cause tension between the party’s current co-presidents Ramona Strugariu and Dragos Pislaru, with a bet on the second place on the list for Brussels.

“I don’t know about such tension,” Cholos commented.

“There is an internal procedure in the party that is going on now, and probably from this point of view you have heard that there is tension. I remember when I was also in USR PLUS and outside there was talk of tension and controversy, but these are inherent political discussions in any party, except parties where the leaders decide who will be on the list and what the order will be “, the European rapper also noted.
