Niculescu and Bucha (an athlete born in Chisinau) defeated Asians Mia Kato (Japan) and Aldila Sutjiadi (Indonesia) 6-2, 7-5 (same as in the first round). The match lasted an hour and 22 minutes.

In the next round, Monica and Christina will meet the winners of the Caroline Dolheide/Desira Krawczyk (USA) vs. Nicole Melichar-Martinez/Ellen Perez (USA/Australia, favorites 3) match.

Monica Niculescu and Cristina Buca secured $24,090 and 215 points in the WTA doubles rankings.

Americans Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula became untitled doubles champions.

Qatar TotalEnergies Open 2024 will be held from February 11 to 17. The tournament is held on clay in Doha, is part of the “WTA 1000” category and offers a total prize pool of $3,211,715. The champion of the title is Iga Sviatek (2022, 2023), and Simona Halep won in 2014.
