Movement problem
Kia has announced a recall some of his electric carsparticularly the EV6 and Niro EV in the United States, due to a potential drive shaft problem, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report published on January 31 and reported by US media.
The main concern is that these vehicles may be equipped with a PTO shaft did not undergo proper heat treatment by the supplier, which increases the risk of failure under load and leads to a possible loss of traction. The recall affects a total of 1,243 vehicles in the United States.
For EV6 (1039 cars recalled), the problem is in the rear inner cardan shaft. The affected models were manufactured between January 26, 2023 and April 8, 2023. As for the Niro EV, 204 units manufactured between June 27 and July 13, 2023 are likely to have issues with left front cardan shaft.
Free replacement
Authorized service centers will replace defective components free of charge for affected owners. The offending part on the EV6 can be identified as 49560-GI000, while on the Niro EV it is part 49500-AO000. This recall is aimed at ensuring driver safety and underscores Kia’s commitment to the quality and reliability of its electric vehicles.
Affected owners are advised to contact Kia Customer Service for more information and to make the necessary replacements as soon as possible.
