“In the context of the fire that broke out last night at the NATO Information and Documentation Center in the Republic of Moldova, we note that we are considering the version of deliberate arson,” the police said in a statement, in which it is clarified that law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of this event.

On Thursday, around 6:45 p.m., a fire engulfed the headquarters of the NATO Information and Documentation Center. The State University of Moldova confirmed in a Facebook post that the fire was set on purpose.

“Fortunately, none of the people on the territory of the university at that time were injured,” – reads the message of the GU, which notes that the consequences could have been worse if the firefighters had not intervened quickly.

Two fire brigades were called to the scene and prevented the fire from spreading inside the building.

The spokeswoman of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, Liliana Puskasu, told the NewsMaker.md portal that two doors at the entrance to the NATO Center were burned. Other media reported that the windows of this center were also damaged.
