“I reported in December that the contract was signed and we will purchase 26 new X-ray scanning systems for checking goods entering the country with European money. Probably, many expected after this quiet period. No, today I announce that the reception of two scanners, one mobile in Giurgiulesti and the other mobile in Albica, is already done. Both will be operational by the end of next month,” the Finance Minister said in a Facebook post on Thursday evening.

Marcel Bolosh clarifies that the process involves not only the placement of scanners at designated points, but also construction work to ensure compliance with the rules of radiological protection during the operation of the equipment.

“We don’t stop there. Today I had a big meeting with the new management of customs, where we talked about mechanisms to fight smuggling and fraud at the borders. Things are moving in the right direction, so by the end of the year we will already have eight functional scanners,” Bolosh said.
