Greta Thunberg was acquitted of a single charge under the Public Order Act by Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Thunberg is one of dozens of protesters arrested in October outside a London hotel hosting the Energy Intelligence Forum, an event attended by oil and gas industry leaders.

She and four other protesters, aged between 19 and 59, were charged with disobeying a police order to move their protest to a designated location near the conference.

But Judge John Lowe ruled that the condition imposed on the protesters was unlawful because police could have imposed less restrictions.

“The prosecution’s evidence is insufficient for any reasonable court to pass a proper sentence, and I use my discretion to acquit all five defendants,” Law said to cheers and cheers from many of Greta’s supporters who attended the trial.

“You are all innocent of this charge,” he added, addressing the defendants.
