The final of the European Men’s Handball Championship was held on the basis of overall balance: France defeated Denmark by only two goals with the score 33-31 (14-14).

After a counterattacking first half, the score was 14-14 at halftime, but the start of the second half saw Denmark take the lead.

The Danes led several times with a difference of two goals, but were never able to increase the advantage.

At the end of 60 minutes, France was able to equalize and send this match to extra time after the semi-final with Sweden.

After the first overtime, it was tied again, 29-29, but with a last-ditch effort, the French ended the game two goals down and won the gold medal.

This is France’s fourth European trophy, having won the finals in 2006, 2010 and 2014. The French also have six world titles.

On the other hand, this is Denmark’s second loss in the EC final after losing in 2014 in the last act also to France. The Danes have two European championship titles, 2008 and 2012.
