On Friday afternoon, a train with 30 passengers collided with a car in Doftiana commune, Bacau county. There were two people in the car, they were taken out in an unconscious state. Doctors failed to save them, reports News.ro.

As a result of the traffic accident, the driver died, as well as a 27-year-old young man who was sitting in the front right seat,” IPJ Bacău reports.

The driver of the train, a 45-year-old man from the Vrancha district, was tested on a breathalyzer, the result was negative, and biological blood samples were taken from him according to the methodology.

Criminal proceedings have been opened in the case for the crime of involuntary manslaughter.

“The national railway company CFR SA informs that today, January 26, 2024, around 16:45, due to the lack of insurance of the driver at the level crossing located between Dofteana Bacău and Valea Uzului stations, a car at km 62+900 hit Regio 5207 train. By according to the information sent from the scene, the passengers and railway staff of the Regio train were not injured, but there are casualties among the passengers in the carriage,” CFR reports in turn.

The quoted source said that train R 5207 is stopped at the accident site until the completion of the investigation carried out by the competent authorities, while train R 5212 is stopped at Valea Uzului until the line is restored, as there is a simple CF line between Dofteana Bacău – Valea Uzului stations.
