The 36-year-old actor, who received Russian citizenship in 2021, was awarded by President Vladimir Putin in 2018 for his contribution to the country’s culture.

“Miloš Bikovych, a Serbian actor who has supported Russia since the beginning of the invasion, will star in season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus+,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced on X (formerly Twitter).

“HBO, do you mind working with someone who advocates genocide and violates international law?” he added, addressing the television station that produces the program.

In mid-January, HBO announced that Miloš Biković would be joining the cast next season. Production will begin in February in Thailand, Variety reports.

So far, the channel has not responded to this criticism.

Milos Bikovych, who starred in several Russian films, received Russian citizenship by decree of Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2021, a year before the start of the invasion of Ukraine.

“It is a great honor for me to say today: Russia is my homeland,” he wrote on Instagram at the time, declaring that he considers himself “an active member of Russian society.”

White Lotus, a scathing satire on the hypocrisy of the rich, was hugely popular and a critical success. In January, it won an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series.
