Magistrates of the Mangalia court decided to keep Vlad Paska, the culprit of the accident last summer on May 2, in custody for another 30 days, as a result of which two young people died. However, the court decision is not final. The magistrates decided to reject the request of the lawyer Vlad Pasku to replace the preventive arrest with another measure, writes news.ro.

“Confirms the legality and validity of the preventive arrest of the accused Pasku Matei Vlad and preserves the preventive arrest of the defendant, arrested on the basis of the warrant for preventive arrest No. 15/UP dated 20.08.2023, issued by the court of Mangalia in case No. 4085/254/2023. The petition of the defense counsel of the accused to cancel the preventive measure and replace it with another measure shall be rejected as unfounded. The appointed measure will be brought to the attention of the defendant through the administration of the place of imprisonment. On the basis of Part 3 of Article 275 of the new Criminal Procedure Code. court costs remain with the state,” the court protocol states.

The decision of the magistrates is not final and can be appealed within 48 years from the moment of its announcement.

On August 19, 2023, Vlad Pascu was driving a car along DN 39 and at around 5:25 a.m., around May 2, he drove into a group of pedestrians. As a result of the impact, two young people died, three more were injured.

Vlad Pascu fled the scene of the accident and was later found by the police in Vama Veke. Investigators determined that he was under the influence of several prohibited substances, including cocaine, amphetamine and methamphetamine.

In September, Vlad Paska was sued for intentional homicide, intentional infliction of bodily harm, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving a vehicle under the influence of psychoactive substances.

The case was transferred to the Mangalia court.

Also, in another matter, Vlad Pasku was sent to court by DIICOT prosecutors together with his parents for illegal drug trafficking, for inducing a person to give false testimony or not to provide evidence, as well as for providing an apartment for drug use. This case will be heard in the Bucharest Court.
