Political sources told News.ro on Saturday that Senate President Nikolaj Čuke called an extraordinary meeting of the Senate on Monday, January 22, to start the legislative procedure to approve the emergency decrees adopted by the government during the parliamentary recess. .

Resolutions regarding a single tax stamp for diesel fuel and kerosene and the equivalence of permits for driving on public roads are under consideration.

“After the meeting of the Standing Bureau of the Senate, the projects will be discussed by the specialized commissions of the Senate, the first forum referred to in these cases,” the cited sources said.

The two decrees are part of the protesters’ demands.

The government passed a number of regulations this week.

Thus, the GEO was adopted regarding the postponement of the implementation of Decision (EU) 2022/197 of the Commission of January 17, 2022 on the establishment of a single tax stamp for diesel fuel and kerosene.

“The regulatory act established a transitional period until June 1, 2024, during which the Solvent Yellow 124 marker can continue to be used for marking diesel fuel, fuel oil and similar products from the point of view of the excise duty level. Amendments and additions to Law No. 227/2015 on the Fiscal Code are necessary in view of the impossibility of compliance after January 18, 2024 with the requirements of the Decision of the European Commission on establishing a common tax stamp for diesel fuel and kerosene by replacing the current substance used to mark used diesel fuel . and which enjoy exemption from payment of excise duty, respectively, Solvent Yellow 124, with the new Euromarker, under the trade name ACCUTRACE™ PLUS,” the Government sent.

Also, for equal treatment, the same measure has been introduced for fuel oil and energy products equated to it from the point of view of excise duty.

Also, the executive power adopted GEO regarding the introduction of changes and additions to some regulatory acts in the field of road transport.

“The regulatory act clarifies some aspects regarding the periodic technical inspection of vehicles registered or registered in Romania, the professional certification of specialized personnel in the field of road transport, as well as the correlation of some provisions regarding the conclusion and execution of a transport contract for national transport,” he also conveyed.

Thanks to these changes, slow vehicles, respectively vehicles with a maximum design speed of up to 25 km/h, are exempted from the obligation to pass a periodic technical inspection.

“At the same time, it is established that every 6 months, a periodic technical inspection of all vehicles that carry out RENT CAR activities, that is, both vehicles used for rental transportation and vehicles used for the rental service, is carried out. The order also clarifies some of the provisions governing the passing of the exam by persons who intend to obtain the initial attestation of drivers who transport people or goods,” the government officials added.
