As a result of the tests, salmonella was detected, and during the inspection carried out by DSP officials, several violations were found, and two sanctions were applied, one for the school and the other for the catering company, writes News.ro.
“During the day of January 14, 2024, 14 patients with digestive symptoms (nausea, vomiting, abdominal colic, watery diarrheal stool, fever, dizziness, loss of appetite) applied to the UPU service of the Children’s Clinical Emergency Hospital in Brasov. By the morning of January 15, 2024, 10 more children appeared. Out of the total number of 24 patients, at the moment, 4 children are still hospitalized, the others did not need hospitalization, they received treatment of hydroelectrolytic balance, appointments at home, supervision of a family doctor,” – representatives of DSP Brasov reported on Monday.
They specified that the patients are part of a group of students, approximately 980 children, who attend functional after-school facilities at secondary school #1. 11 Brasov.
“Following the results of co-cultivation collected from 4 hospitalized patients, the bacterium Salmonella was identified, according to the laboratory results of the Children’s Clinical Emergency Hospital of Brasov. The State Sanitary Inspection of the Public Health Department of Brasov County conducted an inspection in the educational unit, inspecting classrooms from a hygienic and sanitary point of view, classrooms with the purpose of “school after school”, where hot meals are served. food regime, in accordance with the agreement concluded between the Parental Society of Secondary School n. 11 Brasov and the catering company SC Meganova SRL Brasov,” the quoted source added.
Also, according to representatives of the authorities, they were checked in secondary school No. 1. 11 Brasov, the following: biocidal substances in school, biocidal substances used for hand disinfection; the menu, compiled and developed by a nutritionist, an employee of the school unit, not updated and not approved in an up-to-date state (inconsistency); letters of skills of persons responsible for supervising the educational process of children, as well as letters regarding the acquisition of basic ideas about the hygiene of support staff; meals are served immediately after reception by representatives of the school unit from the catering establishment; it was not possible to prove the procedure regarding the hygiene of the students’ hands, which should take place between the educational process and the serving of food (non-compliance).
What the control at the public catering enterprise showed
“The catering company SC Meganova SRL Braşov operates on the basis of the certificate of conformity no. 2267/2018, permission to request, with clearly defined places for processing, storage, preparation, storage and transportation of food; during the control, insufficient organization of the food production process, which does not implement the orientation of the technological flow in one direction and facilitates the transitions between healthy and unhealthy phases, at one point (inconsistency)” was revealed, the authorities also sent. According to them, it is ensured the operation of refrigeration units with daily temperature control, and the premises for pre-treatment of food products (cleaning, washing, grinding) have separate circuits for vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, are disinfected according to their own plan, with cleaning substances and biocidal substances, approved by MS.

After the inspections, two sanctions were imposed, both at the catering company and at the school, respectively 2,000 lei for secondary school no. 11 Brasov and 10,000 lei SC Meganova SRL Brasov.
