
Police in Prahov are investigating five people in the case of poaching and illegal use of weapons, they are suspected of having shot several animals at the end of last year as part of illegally organized hunting. Among the suspects is the former head of the School of Police Agents “Vasyl Laskar” from Campina, currently retired. He and two other suspects were detained for 24 hours after their arrest in this case.
“Investigations have shown that in the period from November to December 2023, the suspects shot several game animals without a hunting permit. According to the results of the searches, specimens of wild game, which probably come from poaching, were discovered and removed for expert research. In addition, a hunting weapon and related cartridges were seized,” Prahova District Police reported on Sunday, as quoted by News.ro.
On Thursday, January 11, police officers from the Campina Municipal Police conducted six searches and brought five people to police headquarters for questioning in this case. Three of them were detained for 24 hours and then released.
Among the suspects is reserve colonel Emil Manta, former head of the School of Police Agents “Vasyl Laskar” in Campina, judicial sources told News.ro. Now he is retired, he is not an active member of MAI.
