“A frosty day, but a day of fire for mountain rescuers from across the country who are called upon to respond to an alarmingly high number of incidents, an unwanted record this winter. Over the last day, the National Rescue Dispatch Service of Salvamont received 112 calls requesting the urgent intervention of rescuers,” the representatives of the dispatch center noted.

Eleven calls were for Salvamont Maramureş, 10 each for Voineasa and Lupeni, 9 each for Salvamont Bihor and Salvamont Caraş Severin – Muntele Mic and 8 calls for the municipality of Salvamont Braşov. Salvamont Predeal and Salvamont Gorj received 7 calls each, Salvamont Prahova – 6, Salvamont Alba – 5. 4 calls each were addressed to Salvamont services in Borsha, Sinaia, Cluj and Sibiu, 3 calls were to Salvamont Harghita, 2 to Salvamont Mureş, county Brasov, Arges and Dambovitsa and one call each for Salvamont Mehedinţi, Salvamont Neamţ and Salvamont Vatra Dornei.

“In the case of these interventions, 155 people were saved, of which 38 were transferred to the Emergency Medical Service or SMURD and one IGAv helicopter for transport to hospital.

“Unfortunately, one person died and was transferred to IML,” Salvamont National Dispatch reported.

The rescuers specify that the low temperatures required a very quick intervention of the rescuers so that the injured people were not severely hypothermic, and then they were urgently transported to ambulances or to specially equipped warm spots.

“Salvamont Romania, the only organization legally authorized to carry out mountain rescue operations for people with diseases injured in the mountains, urges you to be careful and responsible when performing mountain activities and invites you to join them in the campaign to reduce the number of mountain accidents!” , – said the message of representatives of the dispatching service.
