Andriy Rublev produced a thrilling first-round match at the 2024 Australian Open in which the fifth seed had to fight back from 2-5 down in the deciding tie-break to reach the second round in Melbourne.

Rublev made the desired start of the match: he reached 2-0 in sets (7-5, 6-4), and the dispute spilled into an easy victory for the Russian.

Thiago Seibot Wild simply let go of the punches, knowing that he had nothing left to lose. The Brazilian leveled the match, raised the level of his game, and Rublev began to make mistakes more and more often.

Wild restored parity after winning the third and fourth sets, 6-3, 6-4.

The decisive case was also not without drama. With the score 6-5 in favor of Rublev, Wild saved four match points.

It came to a maxi-tie break, where the Brazilian led with a score of 5-2. However, this was not enough, Rublev managed to fight back and win with a score of 10-6. The game lasted three hours and 45 minutes.

In the second round of the Australian Open, Andriy Rublev will meet the winner of the match between Christopher Eubanks (34 ATP) and Taro Daniel (74 ATP).
