“Dare to be good fighters and become defenders of national interests. The interests of national sovereignty, security and development must be firmly defended, showing preparation and strong will to confront major powers,” Xi Jinping told foreign emissaries gathered in Beijing, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

He also urged diplomats to adhere to party discipline, repeating the word “strict” seven times.

“Rules and discipline must be at the forefront, everyone must observe strict self-discipline, strictly take responsibility (…) and create an iron diplomatic army, loyal to the party (…), capable of fighting and strict discipline, “, – Xi Jinping also said.

He also stressed the need for Beijing to increase its influence internationally to fight what he sees as Western attempts to contain China, repeating the word “struggle” five times.

“We must build broad and deep friendships, and the struggle to win people’s hearts must take place not only in temples, but also among the masses. We must use the language and methods of foreigners to make China famous,” he added.
