Russia carried out a new massive attack on Kyiv. This is already the sixth shelling of the capital of Ukraine since the beginning of December. At the front, the Ukrainian army decided to barricade itself in the trenches before a long and difficult winter, in order to slow down the current Russian offensive on all fronts and not to lose more territory, especially in the Donetsk region.
Basic information about the war in Ukraine, day 667, LIVETEXT:
07:36 Russian drones targeted Kyiv early Friday morning, and Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and other officials reported strikes on neighborhoods in the Ukrainian capital, Reuters reported.
This is the sixth drone attack on the capital this month. Two people were injured.
According to Klitsiko, the drone crashed into a residential building in the Solomyansky district, south of the city center, causing a fire on the upper floors, which was quickly extinguished.
Emergency services reported that several apartments on the 24th, 25th and 26th floors of the building were damaged. Two people were injured, one of whom is in hospital.
The incident happened several hundred meters from the maternity hospital.
Vitaly Klitschko also reported that in the Darnytsia district on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River, which flows through the city, debris from a drone set fire to a house under construction.
According to him, there are no victims.
The head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, reported that shrapnel from the downed drone hit a residential building in the third district – Holosiivskyi – also south of the center.
