Vin Diesel, star of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, has been accused of sexual assault and creating a hostile work environment in a lawsuit filed by a former nurse, CNN reports.
The civil lawsuit, opened on Thursday in the Los Angeles Superior Court, concerns the 2010 incident in which Diesel’s former assistant Asta Jonasson during the filming of the fifth episode of the “Fast and Furious” saga, writes News.ro.
Asta Jonasson was sent to help the actor leave the hotel early in the morning, avoiding the paparazzi, reports AFP.
She claims that the actor forced her into a hotel room in Atlanta and masturbated in front of her.
“When she was alone with him in a hotel room, Vin Diesel sexually assaulted her by groping her breasts and kissing her. Ms. Jonasson struggled to free herself from his grip when he repeatedly told her “no,” the complaint said, adding that the actor tried to remove her underwear.
According to the document, the complainant, who declined to remain anonymous, fled into the bathroom, followed by Vin Diesel, whose real name is Mark Sinclair Vincent.
The actor then forced her to touch him before pinning her against the wall and masturbating in front of her.
The plaintiff says she was fired the day after the incident by phone from Samantha Vincent, the actor’s sister and a manager at the company that hired her.
“Vin Diesel vehemently denies these allegations in their entirety,” Brian Friedman, Diesel’s attorney, said in a statement to CNN.
“According to reports, this is the first time he is hearing about this 13-year-old complaint by a nine-day employee,” he added.
Jonasson is suing Diesel, his company, One Race Productions, and Diesel’s sister, Samantha Vincent, for sexual assault, hostile work environment, negligent supervision and wrongful termination, among other things.
She seeks civil penalties of $10,000 per count plus unspecified punitive damages, according to the complaint.
“No one is too famous or too powerful to evade justice,” said Claire-Lise Cutley of Greenberg Gross LLP, Jonasson’s attorney.
“We hope her courageous decision to come forward will help create lasting change and empower other survivors,” she added.
Diesel has appeared in more than 60 films for television and film. He is also one of the producers of the films in the successful Fast and Furious franchise. He has several projects in the works, including “X-Speed: Part 2”.
