“We have to fight in conditions where the enemy is superior in both weapons and troops,” he explained on Telegram, while assuring that his men were resisting.

Ukraine is asking its allies for more weapons and ammunition, but Western support is slowing because of domestic tensions in the United States and the European Union.

For its part, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that it repelled eight Ukrainian attacks in the area of ​​the city of Kupyansk.

The ministry also said its soldiers were stepping up pressure around the town of Bakhmut, which Moscow occupied after a bloody battle in the summer.

Meanwhile, Kyiv said it shot down two Russian drones in the region of western Ukraine, while Moscow said it shot down four over the Russian regions of Bryansk and Kaluzka.

General Oleksandr Syrskyi is considered the most feared Ukrainian commander after his successes during the war.

The general led the defense of Kyiv in the first months of the war and led the Ukrainian offensive from Kharkiv.
