
A cold wave will continue to affect Mongolia in the coming days, the country’s weather service said on Tuesday, as temperatures have already reached nearly -50 degrees Celsius, Xinhua news agency quoted Agerpres as saying.
The overnight temperature in Zuungov, an administrative division of Uvs province in western Mongolia, dropped to minus 49.4 degrees Celsius overnight from Monday to Tuesday, the National Meteorological and Environmental Monitoring Agency said in a statement.
In the rest of the country, on the night from Monday to Tuesday, the temperature dropped to minus 23.5 degrees Celsius, the agency reports. Residents, especially herders and nomadic motorists, are advised to take additional precautions adapted to frosty weather.
