McLaren is known in the sports car industry for its particularly spicy cars. For 2019, however, McLaren is introducing a slightly more GT-styled supercar called, and you can’t guess it, the McLaren GT.

More comfortable than its 720S and Artura cousins, the GT emphasizes some practical aspects, including a large boot and more comfort overall. After four years of good and loyal service, the GT gets the first change with the new GTSa model that should be a little more sporty while maintaining a certain level of comfort.

McLaren GTS in multiple figures

True to the tradition of the Woking brand, the McLaren GTS is based on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis that guarantees exceptional lightness in this day and age. Weighing only 1,520 kgor 10kg less than the GT, McLaren claims a power-to-weight ratio of 2.4bhp/kg for its new GTS.

Under its hood is the famous 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a capacity of 635 hp and a torque of 630 Nm. This is for 15 hp. more than the GT, and the torque value does not change. Combined with a 7-speed SSG transmission, this engine allows the GTS to reach top speed 326 km/hto accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 secondsand from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.9 seconds (compared to 9 seconds for the GT).

Its practical aspects are preserved

Adaptive suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, Pirelli P Zero tires and recalibrated steering are included in the program for this new model. McLaren also added new lightweight elements such as a roof panel made from recycled carbon fiber and the rear upper structure also made from carbon fiber.

The upper rear carbon fiber structure, an integral part of the monocoque chassis, creates a large storage space behind the passenger compartment. With capacity 420 liters The GTS also offers 150 liters of luggage space up front, totaling 570 litres, which is accessed via a power glass tailgate.

The new McLaren GTS is now available to order. Prices have not yet been announced by the manufacturer, but should be above the €210,000 already claimed for the GT, excluding options and excluding the environmental penalty, of course. Its final price, turnkey, should surely exceed €300,000 with several options.
