American actor Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in the Marvel universe and Creed III, was found guilty on Monday by a New York jury of allegations that he assaulted and harassed his ex-girlfriend, reports Reuters. Shortly after the verdict, a representative of the Walt Disney Company, which owns Marvel Entertainment, said that the studio had removed the actor from future projects.

Majors played the villain known as Kang the Conqueror in this year’s Ant-Man and was set to appear in 2026’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Assault and harassment allegations have halted the meteoric rise of actor Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in Lovecraft Land, Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Solace, after he assaulted British choreographer Grace Jabbari in March .

She told the court she had a broken finger, bruises, a cut behind her ear and was in “excruciating” pain after the altercation with Majors.

Majors now faces up to a year in prison, the BBC reports.

The verdict will be announced on February 6.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office welcomed the verdict in a statement, saying the evidence showed a “cycle of psychological and emotional abuse and escalating patterns of coercion” by Majors.

Majors filed his own complaint against Jabbari, but the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office later dropped the case.
