An Alba County teenager was injured Sunday while trying to light a firecracker. The boy was found in a state of shock, and when the medical team arrived, he was not fully conscious, stabilized and taken to the hospital, News.ro reported.

The incident occurred in the municipality of Metesh in Alba County, where the SMURD team from the Alba Iulia Fire Department and the county ambulance crew responded to provide first aid to a 15-year-old boy.

“After playing with pyrotechnic materials (firecrackers), he suffered several injuries to one of his lower limbs. At the time of the arrival of the operational units at the scene, the patient was in a state of shock, half-conscious,” reports the Alba Emergency Situations Inspectorate.

After providing medical assistance, the teenager was taken to the reception department of Alba, at the time of arrival at the hospital he was conscious.

Firefighters say even very low-risk materials can be dangerous if used by children.
