On Thursday, MEPs were warned not to drink bottled water in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
According to G4Media, European officials received a crisis message informing them that bottled water distributed both at the plenary session and in the offices of the president of the Strasbourg forum is suspected to be contaminated.
“Water pollution is crisis communication
It is suspected that the water bottles distributed in the Hemicycle and in the offices of the President, today, 14/12/2023, in STRASBOURG, are contaminated with water. Please do not drink from water bottles inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg. If detected: Detailed instructions will be sent by email. In case of a medical emergency, call 85112. National authorities have been notified. Security/incident response teams are in the process of intervening,” said a message received by MEPs.
MEP Evgeny Tomak, leader of the PMP, confirmed that he had been notified but did not know more about the security incident.
“We have no more details. I can say that no Romanian MEP has been exposed so far, let’s hope that this security incident will not have consequences. We hope to receive more information from the administration and leadership of the European Parliament,” Eugene Tomak told Digi24.
