The Louvre, home to the famous Mona Lisa and the most visited museum in the world, said on Friday that entrance fees would rise in January to 22 euros ($23.70) from 17 euros. This is the first price increase since 2017.

The Louvre said the higher rate would help it cover higher electricity costs and fund free entry for certain people, such as under-18s, teachers and journalists.

He did not mention the Olympics. However, the Louvre price hike will coincide with other price hikes as the city prepares to host the Olympics.

During the Olympics, which will start on July 26 next year, ticket prices in the Paris metro will almost double.

Guests heading to Paris next summer are also facing serious accommodation problems amid rising hotel prices. A report by the Paris Tourist Office has shown that hotel prices will increase by more than 300% between the 2023-2024 summer season.
