
Suceava County Hospital was ordered to pay a criminal fine of 1.26 million lei for involuntary manslaughter in the case of a child who died in 2016 due to hospital-acquired infections. The decision was made on Wednesday by the Suceava court and is not final.

The examination conducted by the Institute of Forensic Medicine in the case of the three dead infants showed that “infection with the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterium occurred in the hospital wards.”
The Suchav court decided to sentence the Suchav district hospital for manslaughter to pay a criminal fine of 1,260,000 lei (corresponding to the amount of 280 days of the fine multiplied by the amount of 4,500 lei per day of the fine).
Also, the Suchav district hospital must pay moral damages to the parents of the babies in the amount of 650,000 euros, according to the court decision published by NewsBucovina.
