Former PNL president Valeriu Stoica believes that the liberals have been immobilized for several years and the party needs to be renewed. He also noted that there is a lack of communication in the PNL, which shows that there is not very good communication between the national and local levels, as well as between the party and Romanian society, News.ro reported.

Valeriu Stoica said on Monday at the Institute for Popular Studies revival conference that the PNL needs a very clear electoral program.

Strategy for the European Parliament, strategy for the general elections

“I think that the PNL should think very seriously about the fact that in order to have the strength to approach the next elections on its own, it should have a very clear electoral program. And two more elements are needed for this formula to have coverage. A political program is one thing, an election program is another, an election strategy is another. And I hope that the party is working on this election strategy for the four campaigns that will take place next year,” says Stoyka.

He asks the liberal leaders for a strategy for the European Parliament, taking into account the specifics of this election, in which the contribution of the party apparatus is not as great as in local and parliamentary elections, and argues that the state of mind is of great importance in these elections to the European Parliament.

“If the PNL wants to get a good result, it must create a state of mind, it is not enough to set the party apparatus in motion, because in this election the electoral strategy is not based on the party apparatus, but on the state of mind that the party can create. And it is difficult to create a favorable mood when there are rather inflated populist currents,” explained Valeriu Stoyka.

The need for new people in the party

Valeriu Stoica argues that the PNL needs to renew the party, accusing it of immobility that has lasted for several years.

“Before this discussion started, someone behind me said that there are many currents in the PNL, so many that we will all be amazed. I don’t think this is a problem. I don’t think we have much current. I think they are not present enough in PNL. I think the danger of catching a cold is not great because of currents. The risk is that we have been immobilized for a few years and I think we need to renew the party. Currents are very necessary, but they must be present and co-exist to give the identity of the PNL,” said the former liberal president.

Stoica stated that there is a lack of communication in the NLP and calls for better specialists to convey the liberal message to Romanians:

“You have to communicate the electoral strategy, you have to communicate the political program, you have to communicate the electoral program, and here you need people to do it, good specialists, and I hope that PNL has such specialists and can do this communication. There is a communication deficit in the PNL, internally, that is, within the party, there is not very good communication between the national level and the county, commune and city levels, and not very good communication between the party and Romanian society.’
