Ronnie O’Sullivan won his eighth career British title after defeating Ding Junhui 10-7 in the final at the Barbican Center (York, England).

The world leader has categorically lost previous matches with a player from China: 6-0 at the British Championship in 2022 and 6-2 at the 6 Red World Championship (in March this year).

Ronnie led 3-0 and 4-1 in Sunday’s final, but the score was tied at 4-4 at the end of the first session.

The Rockets then led 7-5, were tied again, but rallied in the final three frames to win their 40th career tournament by points.

• After this tournament, Ronnie will receive a check for £250,000 and Ding Junhui will receive £100,000.

• Ronnie O’Sullivan has won the British Championship a record eight times: 1993, 1997, 2001, 2007, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2023.

• Ronnie is the youngest winner in the history of the contest (17 years and 358 days, in 1993), but also the oldest (he will turn 48 on Tuesday).
