In particular, the European Council is proposed to take a final decision at its meeting in December on the start of accession negotiations based on a positive assessment and conclusion of the European Commission in November.

At the same time, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union demanded the “urgent adoption” of the negotiating framework so that the first EU-Republic of Moldova intergovernmental negotiating conference could take place as soon as possible in 2024. “, said Siegfried Muresan.

“In order to start negotiations and prepare the Republic of Moldova for accession, we must increase the European financial and technical support we provide to the authorities and citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Therefore, in the adopted statement, we demand an increase in the European funds allocated to the Republic of Moldova in the coming years, including with the revision of the multi-year budget of the European Union for 2024-2027.

At the same time, in order to increase the technical support we offer, we request the creation of a special unit for the Republic of Moldova within the Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement of the European Commission,” said MureČ™an.

The MEP says that while the Republic of Moldova is getting closer to the European Union, and people are increasingly feeling the benefits of European integration, the Russian Federation is intensifying its efforts to destabilize the situation in the country.

“Therefore, it is necessary that in the next period we support the Republic of Moldova in ensuring stability in the country and fighting against manipulation and disinformation coming from the Russian Federation,” Muresan also said.
