
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) reports that 12 people, Romanian citizens and their family members, left the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing on Wednesday and are in Egyptian territory on their way to Cairo.
In a statement sent on Wednesday evening, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “following the comprehensive efforts of the Interagency Crisis Cell through the Romanian Embassy in Cairo and the Romanian Mission in Ramallah, 12 Romanian citizens and their family members were evacuated. from the Gaza Strip and reached the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt through the Rafah border crossing.
They were later received by representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Egypt, and the mobile team of the MAE Crisis Unit escorted them to Cairo, from where they will be sent to Romania.
“The MAE continues dialogue with the Israeli and Egyptian authorities to facilitate the evacuation of other Romanian citizens and family members in the Gaza Strip who have requested support in this regard, subject to developments on the ground and agreement between the parties involved,” the communique also said.
To date, 249 Romanian citizens and their family members have been evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
