The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it found the body of one of the 240 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza after the October 7 attack in southern Israel, Sky News reported.
Yehudit Weiss, who the army said was abducted from his home in Beer, was found in a building near Al-Shifa Hospital where Israeli forces were searching for evidence of Hamas military infrastructure.
The army said the body had been identified by forensics and the family had been informed.
“Her body was discovered by a military unit in a house near the hospital along with the weapons belonging to her kidnappers,” said army spokesman Daniel Hagari.
“The national task before our eyes is to find the missing and bring home the abducted,” the IDF said.
“To fulfill these tasks, the IDF acts together and in full coordination with the relevant national institutions and security agencies. We will not stop the mission until it is completed,” the army says.
The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas claims that the Israeli military killed dozens of hostages during heavy shelling of the area.
