A black and white jacket worn by Michael Jackson in a Pepsi advert was expected to fetch between £200,000 and £400,000 at auction.

The item, which sold for £250,000, was among more than 200 “music memorabilia” sold in London on Friday, including a George Michael jacket and an Amy Winehouse hair accessory.

Michael Jackson wore the jacket sold on Friday in 1984 in the first of a series of commercials the superstar shot for the soft drink company. The BBC mentions the case during the filming of those videos, when Michael Jackson’s hair caught fire, as a result of which he received serious burns. At that time, he was wearing a different jacket, writes the BBC. (Photo: Dreamstime.com)
