“Israel is a country that has no business on our land,” Hamad said in an interview given on October 24 by the LBC TV channel.

“We must eliminate it because it represents a security, military and political disaster for the Arab and Islamic nation. We are not ashamed to talk about it,” the Hamas leader said.

An excerpt of the interview was shared on X on Wednesday by British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley.

In the interview, Hamad also says that Israel must be wiped out of all “Palestinian lands”, i.e. completely destroyed, claiming that its existence is “illogical”.

“We must teach Israel a lesson, and we will do it twice and thrice. The Al-Aqsa flood (the name Hamas gave to its October 7 attack) was only the “first” lesson, Hamad continued. “Will we have to pay the price? Yes, and we are ready to pay it. We are called a nation of martyrs and we are proud to sacrifice martyrs,” the Palestinian leader added.

A Hamas official also said Hamas had no intention of harming civilians, but there were “difficulties” on the ground, despite overwhelming evidence that has emerged over the past three weeks of deliberate attacks on Israeli civilians under instructions from the Hamas command.

“We are victims of the occupation. point. So no one should blame us for what we do. October 7, October 10, October 1 million, everything we do is justified,” concludes Hamad.
