China may attack Taiwan because Hamas has decided to attack Israel on October 7, according to Khaled Meshaal, one of the leaders of Hamas living abroad, writes Le Figaro, citing News.ro. China considers Taiwan part of its territory and has even this year conducted several military exercises around the island. The leader of Hamas admitted that Russia “gained” from the attack on Israel, because it “distracted the attention of the United States from Ukraine.”
The French newspaper writes that the Hamas leader made these statements in an interview with the Egyptian TV station Sada Elbalad Egypt on Thursday, and specifies that he was unable to verify the translation of Khaled Meshal’s statements.
Khaled Meshaal, who is considered one of the founders of Hamas, is in exile in Qatar and has been a member of the Hamas Politburo since the organization was founded. In 1996-2017, he was the president of the Hamas Politburo.
China would qualify the October 7 attack as a “dazzling” example, he told an Egyptian station.
On October 7, Hamas launched a brutal and unexpected attack on Israeli territory. Thousands of rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip and commandos infiltrated at several points and killed civilians and soldiers.
On the day of the attack, about 1,400 people died in Israel, most of whom were civilians.
According to the Hamas Health Ministry, Israel killed 8,005 Palestinians in retaliation in the Gaza Strip, including 3,324 children.
“The Arabs teach the whole world a lesson”
The Chinese government considers Taiwan, home to 23 million people, to be part of Chinese territory, which it has pledged to one day reunify with China, if necessary by force.
In recent years, Beijing has increased its military threats and political and economic pressure on the autonomous island.
In April, China conducted military exercises simulating the encirclement of the island after a meeting between Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen and then-US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in California.
“The Russians told us that our 7/10 operation would be taught in military academies,” the Hamas leader boasts in this interview.
“They won our attack because it diverted the attention of the United States from the war in Ukraine,” he added.
On Thursday, the day of the interview, Russia hosted a Hamas delegation in Moscow.
“Arabs teach a lesson to the whole world,” concludes Khaled Meshaal.
