The measures proposed by the government will have serious consequences that are not being talked about at all, UDMR senators’ leader Cheke Attila said on Wednesday.

“The topic of banned concerts and festivals, pens and office furniture is a fake topic. The measures envisaged by the Government will have much more serious consequences, which are not being talked about at all. Citizens will feel the consequences of these measures, which will slow down the work of city halls and lead to the blocking of state investments and the blocking of Romania’s development,” Ceke Attila said in a press release.

According to the former Minister of Development, “investments financed by public funds will remain unfinished because the government does not pay the bills for these constructions” and “thus, public money that has already been invested will be wasted and the country will remain a big construction site.” site”.

“Romania or any other country with budget problems cannot afford such consequences if they hope for fiscal recovery,” the UDMR senator added.

He also drew attention to the fact that the Government’s regulations will prohibit the payment of bills for public investment works performed by local government bodies, limiting them to the average payment for the first half of the year.

“Regardless of the volume of work in the autumn months, so far the local state administration will be able to pay only the average amount of invoices issued in the first half of the year. If in the first half of the year, in the winter months, work was not carried out and invoices for the work were not issued, but in the summer and autumn the builders worked and now submit invoices for the payment of these works to the local authorities, then they will not be able to be paid in full. This will lead to the insolvency of construction companies and will leave a large construction site in the country where no one is working,” explained the senator of the UDMR.

The former minister added that the Government will ban the awarding of contracts after legitimately won public tenders, which “means that the state and local governments can lose courts and pay fines from public funds.”

“State measures will complicate the work of state institutions and local state administrations, which will be felt when citizens turn to these bodies to solve some problems. The Ministry of Finance will be centralized, reminiscent of the communist regime, and will extend its prerogatives to local authorities and other ministries, which is contrary to democratic principles,” the parliamentarian believes.

According to him, “the only constructive proposal among the measures proposed by the Government is the one that allows spending funds from the PNRR (borrowed by Romania, not grants) on some projects from the Regional Operational Program and the Large Infrastructure Operational Program, which could thus be saved.”

“UDMR suggests to the government to cut back on this unique, beneficial provision and stop trying to block local government and development in Romania,” Ceke Attila (Agerpres) sent.
