Currently, Russia has deployed more than 400,000 troops on the territory of Ukraine, said the spokesman of the Military Intelligence Service of Ukraine (MUR) Andriy Yusov on the air of the KYIV24 TV program, Kyiv Independent quotes.

“There are enough forces in certain areas of the front to carry out separate operations. And the grouping of the Russian military in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, let’s remind you, is more than 400 thousand,” Yusov said.

Despite what Yusov described as a “significant number of personnel,” a HUR spokesman said he did not expect a Russian winter offensive of the same scale as in February 2022, when Russia launched its full-scale invasion.

“We are not talking about repeating the scenario that happened in February 2022. But in some areas, yes, the enemy will continue to try to carry out separate offensive actions,” he said.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on October 23 that Russian troops had struck several areas of the eastern front, in particular near Avdiyivka, Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut and Maryinka.

In addition to the large gathering of Russian troops, Yusov said that “new weapons are being removed from the arsenal and delivered to the front.”

Yusov also reported that Russia continues to conduct new rounds of mobilization.

Mobilization campaigns have proven highly unpopular in Russia, with British intelligence reporting on October 10 that Moscow is likely to avoid further rounds of mobilization ahead of the March 2024 presidential election.
