Two people who live in the Paris region and who “allegedly have links with the author of the attack” in Brussels on October 16, were presented to an investigating judge in Paris on Monday, AFP reported from the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (PNAT).
A judge will now decide whether they should be charged with conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism. Pnat asked to place them in preventive measure.
Investigations are “continuing to establish the link(s)” of the two suspects to Abdesalem Lassoud, the 45-year-old radicalized Tunisian who killed two Swedes as they came to support their national soccer team.
On October 17, Belgian police shot and killed the criminal, whom Tunisia had been asking for extradition for more than a year.
Following information “provided by the Belgian judicial authorities”, Pnat opened an investigation on 17 October 2023 into the criminal association of certain terrorist criminals.
On Thursday, four people “suspected of links to the attacker” were arrested in Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire and the Paris region, Pnat said. Only two of them made it to the investigating judge on Monday. The other two were released from custody.
