Mia Shem, a 21-year-old girl from Israel, was kidnapped on the day of the Hamas attack and has been held hostage in Gaza ever since. The girl was injured.

Hamas released a recording of her in which the young woman said she had undergone surgery and that her captors were taking care of her.

“I screamed when I saw the video of Mia because I saw that she was alive, but when I watched it again, I saw that she was in pain,” Keren Shem, Mia’s mother, told a news conference.

“I see that she is very scared, she is in pain, and I see that she is saying what she is told,” said the girl’s mother.

The scheme asked world leaders to bring home all the prisoners.

“We’ve had a terrorist attack that could happen tomorrow in France or the United States,” says Shem.

An analysis of the video’s metadata by The New York Times shows that at least some of the footage in Sham’s video was shot at least six days ago.
