Peter Lundgren lost his leg
On Sunday, Lundgren posted a photo from his hospital bed and revealed that he had recently had his leg amputated due to an infection.
“Unfortunately, I had to have my leg amputated 10 days ago due to an infection. The broken ankle wouldn’t heal and the circulation was poor due to type 2 diabetes. But now I’m feeling well again and my rehabilitation will start soon” – Peter Lundgren.
Who is Peter Lundgren?
Lundgren’s highest finishes were 25th in singles (December 1987) and 36th in doubles (November 1990). He reached the 1/8 finals at Wimbledon 1989 (singles) and the finals of the 1988 Australian Open (doubles). He has three singles titles and three doubles titles.
As a coach, Lundgren coached Marcelo Rios, Roger Federer, Marat Safin, Stan Wawrinka, Markos Baghdatis, Grigor Dimitrov, and Daniela Gantukhova.
Lundgren helped Roger Federer win his first career Grand Slam (Wimbledon 2003) and guided Safin to the Australian Open title in 2005.
