Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said that the actions and policies of the Islamist group Hamas do not represent the Palestinian people, the official WAFA news agency reported.
In a phone conversation with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Abbas also said that the Palestine Liberation Organization is “the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people,” according to WAFA.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his inner circle have told their American counterparts that Israel has not yet developed such a strategy and is more focused on the immediate goal of removing Hamas from power in Gaza, a US official said.
Israel says Hamas took 199 hostages in a surprise attack 10 days ago. Since then, Hamas has said that their number could reach 250 people.
