MP Nicu Felkoi (USR) said on Tuesday that the “Voluntary Reserve Program” was not successful at all in Romania and said that for five years he had been trying to talk about voluntary military training, News.ro reported.

“In the end, the governors also took this into account, they also came to the conclusion that there may be an option, but we have a law that has been lying in some drawers for about two years. why Political indecisiveness, they don’t have the courage to bring it to Parliament,” said Felkoy.

In the “Country Project: Romania” program, the UDR deputy stated that one cannot talk about compulsory military service, but one can talk about voluntary military training, and he has been talking about it for five years.

“We have voluntary reservists, it’s completely different, we don’t have voluntary military training, I’m talking about voluntary military training, where you bring young people who want to do a 6-month military training, for example,” he clarified. Falkoi stated that he was recently in Finland and did not undergo mandatory military training there, which is 6 months, and those who want to continue can do more.

According to Niku Felkoy, “the volunteer priest program has not been successful at all in Romania” and it says that people who have a job have to go and do a two-month training, after which they stay in the operational reserve, with a monthly payment and that’s pretty good.” .

“I think he reached 20% of the minimum wage in the economy,” Felkoy said, adding that they are staying home and doing two more weeks of training. “It’s very good, it’s not about money, it’s about the social status of these people, and unfortunately, in Romania, the social status of the military has greatly deteriorated over the last 15 or 20 years,” Felkoy also said, indicating that “due to the general indecision of the political environment and this traffic jam that exists at the government level, no one knows about these programs.”

The UDR deputy stated that he had been trying to talk about voluntary conscription for five years. “In the end, the governors also took this into account, they also came to the conclusion that there may be an option, but we have a law that has been lying in some drawers for about two years. Why? Political indecision, they don’t have the courage to bring it to the parliament where we can discuss it and end it,” he said.

Falcoi noted that “the last contingent of soldiers in the term was in 2006, and Romania’s operational reserve, which should be up to 35 years, is almost finished.”

“We have to replace this operational reserve,” explained Niku Felkoy, stating that Romania no longer has the necessary equipment to equip the reserve. Niku Felkoy also said that no one goes to report a change of residence anymore:

“We, if we now declare a state of siege, those who are reservists at this moment must be notified somehow. (..) You can no longer send them home because three quarters of them have changed their address and no longer live there,” he explained.

“In my opinion, we are in a pretty ugly situation, unfortunately, this political indecision and lack of commitment has brought us here over the years,” added Niku Felkoy.
