According to them, the new legislation will promote cooperation between the police and other authorities.

Facial recognition software will be used to identify known gang members and license plates will be automatically recorded.

Also, the police will have the right to use drones on a larger scale.

The development of the measures will go through an accelerated procedure so that the government’s proposal will be ready in eight months, said Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer, writes Agerpres with reference to dpa.

“Irresponsible immigration and failure of integration brought us here”

The violence has rocked Sweden for weeks as it tries to put an end to these near-daily gun attacks and deadly bombings, often aimed at intimidating members of rival gangs and those close to them. According to public TV channel SVT, 12 people were killed in armed attacks and explosions in September, the bloodiest month in four years.

The perpetrators of this violence are increasingly young, and in recent weeks these attacks have claimed more collateral victims.

Last week, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson spoke of military support to stop the escalation of gang violence.

The Prime Minister criticized the “naivety and ignorance that brought us here”: “Irresponsible immigration and the failure of integration brought us to this situation.”

Last year, Ulf Kristersson, who led the Moderates, was the architect of an unprecedented rapprochement with the far right that allowed him to come to power. In the parliament, he unites with the anti-immigration party “Sweden Democrats”, which, however, does not have a single minister in the government.

Last year, 391 armed attacks were recorded in Sweden, of which 62 were fatal.
